Botanically classified as a melon (C. melo), but resembling and tasting like a cucumber, it features a striking slender body with dark and light green stripes. Unlike traditional cucumbers, the Striped Armenian cucumber is free from bitterness, always offering a mild, crunchy texture.
This cucumber variety is prized for its few seeds, smooth skin (no bumps!), and the fact that it doesn't require peeling. Known by many names, including "snake cucumber," "snake melon," "uri," and "yard-long cucumber," it typically grows between 12”–18” but maintains its sweet flavor even when it reaches larger sizes. For the best taste, harvest your cucumbers when they are between 6”–12” long. They're also highly productive and do well when trained on a trellis to keep the fruit straighter.
