Organic Patty Pan | Yellow Scalloped Squash Seeds - Cucurbita pepo
Organic Non-GMO Open Pollinated Patty Pan | Yellow Scalloped Squash Seeds
This adorable squash brings an undeniable essence of whimsy to your garden! Also called Yellow Scalloped Squash for its seashell shape. Plants begin producing early and remain prolific throughout the growing season. Fruits are best harvested when they’re about the size of a teacup. Check every day or two for tender, 2”-6” squashes with soft and somewhat glossy skin. A wonderful way to involve children in the garden!
As the darling of the summer squash family, Patty Pan has a mild, sweet profile and soaks up flavor well when cooked. Tasty when grilled, sauteed, roasted or stuffed with veggies and cheese.
Direct sow after last frost, or start indoors 3-4 weeks before.
Add compost to soil and mulch at the base. If starting indoors, harden off before transplanting.
Fertilize seedlings with fish emulsion if leaves yellow.
Cut or gently twist off fruits when they have reached desired size. Harvest fruits frequently for best size and quality and to promote more production. Handle with care to avoid scratching fruits.
