Non-GMO Open Pollinated Sochan Seeds

A magnificent native perennial known also as Cutleaf Coneflower. Pollinators rejoice upon plentiful small yellow-petaled blooms reminiscent of mini sunflowers in late summer. Can grow as tall as 10 ft before succumbing to frost each fall. In herbal remedies, the roots have similar benefits to Echinacea. Sochan is a treasured foraged green of the Cherokee and has a long culinary history as a native food.

Harvest: One of the earliest greens to emerge in spring, leaves start out mild & tender, gradually becoming tougher throughout the season but remaining edible deep into fall. Remove spent blooms to encourage more flowers.

This is a self-seeding perennial and spreads eagerly, so plant Sochan somewhere it can roam. Once seedhead and stem are fully dried out, gather some seeds to save. Leave plants standing throughout winter to feed goldfinches and other birds.
